Close working and partnerships with all agencies and services make things happen.
I have been particularly grateful to the support and brokering skills of the EBPs in the South East through SEEN (South East EBP Network)to ignite interest and support for the Enterprise Network and the formation of functioning ELPs.

Yes, it certainly makes things easier. I've had great support from the two local LEGI teams and am now part of a group called 'Enterprising Minds' which consists of YE, Chamber of Commerce, RDA, Make Your Mark, Entrepreneurs' Forum and Schools North East. Everyone wants to pull together to make the NE more enterprising. I love my job!

Oxfordshire ELP grew out of the support offered by the forward thinking of the director of the EBP and the drive of the Chair of the Oxfordshire Learning and Skills Partnership (OLSP), who incidently is now the Headteacher of the coordinating school for the ELP.
I have now been invited to attend the regular meetings of the OLSP where i have negotiated a regular slot for discussion and promotion of the Enterprise Network on the agenda.

As you all know I have suffered in London with EBP's being very territorial and chasing small amounts of funding to keep them going. However have been using them to promote the London primary Conference in March which they see as being able to offer their schools 'something special' which will get them brownie points as well as me getting my delegates there. Feel that this could be the start of ways of working with them next year. Just making sure that we lead and they follow!

Also, forgot to say above that I've had real sucess getting LA's on side through ASPECT. Spoke to a group of about 15 and they were all very positive about what we are doing and seem to be more in line of doing what is best for the students rather than chasing any funding.

    Sustainable partnerships-Education and employers
Education and employer partnerships celebrated at annual Guildhall event - 22 January 2010

A policy forum, organised by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT), brought education and employers together to identify the key characteristics of a sustainable and effective partnership, how barriers can be overcome, and how best practice can be mainstreamed so that every school can benefit from linking with an employer.
